Maspeth Town Hall has been operating the After School Program at PS 49 since 2009. School's Out New York City (SONYC) serves as a pathway to success for our youth. Students are provided a light snack at the beginning of the day  before participating in academics and activities. We pride ourselves in homework completion followed by daily activities which may include physical recreation, computer, fine arts or board games. Our participants are in a safe and nurturing environment under the guidance of trained counselors.

program goals

We have worked with school representatives, after school staff, and our dedicated and experienced veteran staff to develop our Program Goals. Our Program Goals are based on the needs of the school community and keeps our after school program evolving and working hard for the community we serve.

Reinforce academics and structure during the after school hours by establishing a supportive learning environment.

Involve youth in specialty activities lead by trained staff / teachers such as Black Rocket, Architecture,

American Sign Language, and Book Club.

Engage students in activities to stimulate their minds while having fun during after school such as Bowling, Bingo,

Creative Writing, Spelling Bees, and Dance Party.

BECOME An after school counselor

A great way to support MTH is to become an after school counselor for our After School Program! Youth Workers, Group Leaders, and Instructors earn between $18-$22 per hour. Interact with students while collaboratively working with supervisors and peers to enrich their educational experiences and make a difference in the community!
